Outlook for Seamless Steel Pipe Exports

Exports have played a major role in driving the growth of demand for seamless steel pipes: In recent years, China’s total exports of seamless steel pipes have risen year by year, climbing from 2.299 million metric tons in 2010 to 5.7211 million metric tons in 2024, with an average annual increase of 244,400 metric tons. On the other hand, as China’s seamless steel pipe exports have risen year by year, the proportion of exports relative to domestic production has also increased, climbing from 9.1% in 2010 to 19.3% in 2024. In particular, in recent years, driven by shifts in the international geopolitical landscape and the enhanced international competitiveness of China’s seamless steel pipe products, international buyers have actively embraced Chinese products, leading to a significant surge in exports.

Exports of seamless steel pipes are expected to remain at a high level, fluctuating between 5.5 and 6 million metric tons over the next 1 to 3 years: Currently, China’s seamless steel pipe exports have already reached a relatively high level. The fact that China’s seamless steel pipe exports have set new records for two consecutive years is the result of a combination of factors, including “high-quality, low-cost Chinese products,” “strong international demand,” and “changes in exchange rates and the international landscape.” China’s seamless steel pipe exports are likely to remain at a high level over the next 1 to 2 years.
